Why I began this site
My mother was always very creative about suggesting games for us to play when we were "stuck" indoors in bad weather. While she was ironing I would sit at the kitchen table and she would draw five dots which I could connect to make a star. I would ask her to draw whole pages of dots. She told me that when she was little they didn't have many toys to play with, but she and her sister made their own paper dolls out of cut-out figures from catalogs. They would make houses and furniture for their paper dolls using cardboard and for the mirrors they used chewing gum foil. How creative they were! I'm so glad my mother told me stories about her childhood and that those stories have been preserved for my daughter.
